Roscoff deep water port was designed between 1970 and 1972, on the initiative of Morlaix region's economic and political stakeholders. Under the concession of the department of Finistère, its management has been ensured by Morlaix Chamber of Commerce and Industry since the outset. Its initial calling was directed towards the local vegetable production export. Since then, a capital ferry and cargo ships traffic has been carried out from Bloscon head. The port of Roscoff has thus become the most important port for traffic towards Ireland.
