A biotechnological pole

Determined to build the foundations of an economic sector which will make a national and international reference of the "Land of Morlaix", Morlaix CCI and all of the local administrative units are working to allow the emergence of a "biotechnological pole".

Unquestionable local assets

The scientific and technical landscape of the "Land of Morlaix" includes numerous assets which require aggressive networking.  The presence of 200 researchers at the Roscoff biological station, engineers and researchers from BBV and Phytopôle, the capabilities and the technical know-how of Morlaix Technical Resources Centre, are the first elements which give our territory the opportunity of coming within the scope of this path.

Numerous projects, stemming from this competence pole are in a phase of development and confirm the lure of the territory of Morlaix.  The discoveries of the researchers, the patents which they register, must lead towards job creation for the "Land of Morlaix", within these innovative companies in the field of health, agriculture, energy and environment.

Four initiatives to set a territory dynamics in motion

A "Land of Morlaix biothechs" label is launched.  Facing numerous emerging projects and the already committed contacts, the territory surely has the possibility of making an overall offer to all of the project holders.

A “Land of Morlaix biothechs" facilitator has also been recruited.  His task: stimulate the pole, develop the biotechnologies over the territory in connection with all of the research stakeholders, present the territory in the international shows, and help the researchers to cross the threshold of new business start-up.

Then, 2007 will be the launching year of the future biotech estates of the "Land of Morlaix".  These functional and user-friendly spaces will form a group of premises of nearly 3,000 m2 and will offer laboratory and office space for rent, etc.  These biotech estates of the "Land of Morlaix" will be the meeting place favourable to the synergies of the various stakeholders in the biotechnology industries. That is where the sites of the research and technology park of the Tobacco Manufacture and the research centre of Perharidy in Roscoff will be situated.

Lastly, a granting committee will be set up.  It will bring the administrations of all the communities together to create unique access for project holders.  In connection with the pole's facilitator, issues consistent and in complementation with all of the communities will be examined.
